With Sandy’s personality vibing throughout the place, you will rarely leave this space without Sandy not knowing your name and your complicated coffee order off by heart. We spoke to Sandy all about her little gem in heart of the Sunshine Coast
Give us a rundown on who you are and your go to choice of coffee?
I’m Sandy, owner operator of Brewed Espresso in Maroochydore, and my coffee order would have to be a long black with a dash. I used to be a good old cappuccino drinker, but you know what they say about once you go black…
What was the inspiration behind opening Brewed Espresso?
I’m the eldest in my family and as a child my job was to make tea and coffee for the relo’s. I knew how each of my uncles and aunties took it and was always promised the role would fall to the next grandchild as they got older. Safe to say, i’m still making them coffee! Haha! I’ve always wanted to do this for myself, in my own space with people i love, and i get to do that every day. Brewed came about on a whim in 2016 and has grown substantially since. It has become a hub for people to connect, meet new friends and seek solace from our crazy lives and that continues to inspire me every day.
Why is living on the Sunshine Coast so great?
The lifestyle of course! I get to watch the sunrise almost every morning and can walk to the beach in the afternoon. I love the ‘morning’ yells to strangers when we walk past them, the surf checks, the car park lunch views and that our pups can come with us everywhere! But more importantly, it is so humbling to be a part of a community that prides itself on supporting locals, small business and each other.
Any special memories or stories about some of your regular customers?
When i first expanded into the big space, i had a booking for 15 people. It was a local car club, and i was excited to have them visit. 45 people showed up and i was working by myself. I was a little under the pump! 2 of my most regular customers, friends if you like, jumped up and donned an apron to give me a hand taking orders and running them out. A bit of fun for all of us and something we all laugh over to this day.

I first came to SCCR in March 2016. The team at SCCR helped make this part of setting up a new business fun and stress free , i felt instantly supported by the team. I love the ethos behind the roastery, the family feel and of course the coffee! It is so refreshing to have such an important aspect of my business taken care of by people that share the same passion and i love picking their brains about new ideas.
What’s next for Brewed Espresso?
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the coffee trend for the new year and jazzing up our menu. As for the big plans, you’ll just have to keep an eye on our socials to see what’s in store for us.
